Recorded for a Bleep live session, December 2022

"I was honoured to be invited by Bleep to produce a live session. My album title Kaibou Zukan means "anatomical picture book" and is based on samples of traditional Japanese instruments. For this session I looked to move beyond just sampling and recombine the DNA of the instruments in a different way. To do this I have collaborated with Youji Ueki of the group Koma. We went to the studio Tudumiya in Osaka and set up a live jam with pre-recorded drones, live electronic hardware, and his acoustic instrumentation. He is a master of these instruments. In the first piece Mr. Ueki uses the Tsugaru-shamisen (津軽三味線) and it is a re-interpretation of "Genzitsu Touhi (現実逃避)" from Kaibou Zukan. In the second piece Mr. Ueki plays the Wadaiko drums (和太鼓) and it is a re-interpretation of "Onore 己" from Makafushigi."

Now we're talking, this is some proto polyrhythmic Grime/Bass experimentalism that is coming at you with an attitude that'll both hit you over the head and put a big smile on your face. That is, if you are into seriously complex rhythmic structures, electronic sounds that are honed to perfection and everything produced with a shit load of skills.
